Advanced Reporting System

Hello,

In many forum and community platforms, reporting systems rely heavily on free-form text when users submit reports. This can result in reports being inconsistent, unclear, or difficult to interpret, especially in larger communities. Moderators may then need to spend additional time determining what each report is actually about. For this reason, I believe an advanced, category-based and standardized reporting system could be developed to make the moderation process more efficient and consistent.

When a user clicks “Report” on a piece of content, they should first be required to select one of several predefined report reasons:
  • Spam
  • Harassment / Abuse
  • Hate Speech
  • Threats / Violence
  • Sexual Content
  • Fraud / Scams
  • Misinformation
  • Copyright Infringement
  • Sharing Personal Information
After selecting a reason, the user could optionally provide additional information:

Additional information (optional):
CODE
1[____________________________________________]

[ Submit Report ]

The additional information field should be optional and have a maximum limit of 60 characters. Users should be able to submit a report by selecting only the appropriate category without entering any additional text. Whether the additional information field is displayed at all should be configurable by the administrator.

Moderator / Administration Features

Moderators should be able to clearly see the following information when reviewing a report:
  • Report reason
  • Reported content
  • Reported user
  • Reporting user
  • Additional information

The following features could also be considered:
  • Grouping multiple reports submitted for the same content
  • Filtering reports by category
  • Report statuses: New / In Review / Resolved / Rejected
  • Adding moderator notes to reports
  • Report history and moderation action logs
  • Automatic priority levels based on report category
  • Filtering reports by category in the moderator interface
  • Preventing users from repeatedly reporting the same content to spam the reporting system
  • Allowing certain report categories to require additional information while keeping it optional for others

The main goal is to replace completely free-form and potentially ambiguous reports with predefined, standardized report reasons, allowing moderators to understand and process reports more quickly and consistently.

The add-on should ideally integrate with the existing reporting infrastructure while maintaining the native interface and overall user experience of the platform as much as possible.

This is my suggestion. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Since the moderator side is the behind-the-scenes part of the whole operation, some things can normally be overlooked. In other words, it could be said that even without such an add-on, things would still be fine.

The main reason I brought up this topic, however, is not so much to reduce the workload on the moderator side, but rather the corporate and professional aspect of the matter. The biggest competitors of forums are advanced social media platforms that keep up with the times. For this reason, I believe we need to move away from systems that have fallen behind the times and move toward systems that offer a more professional appearance and user experience and meet today's standards.

It could even be a built-in option within the software itself.

Will this be added in 2.0.0? I think it is a great idea as well.

Merhaba @everyone ,

RaxBoard Ekibi
Hello @everyone ,

We have successfully integrated most of the system proposed by @Haz  into RaxBoard. It is currently in the testing phase, and you will be able to use it smoothly with the new release coming later this week.

At the same time, before moving to version 2.0.0, we are focusing on fixing all critical issues within the software while also making RaxBoard much more modular and flexible in terms of themes and add-ons.

Our goal is to make it possible to develop and release new products much faster and with fewer issues, while also making the entire experience much easier and more intuitive for end users.
With version 2.0.0, we also plan to simplify and improve the theme customization system. Everything will be more straightforward and easier to manage. For example, instead of relying on Style Properties, our plan is to manage as many theme settings as possible directly through the Customizer.

Your feedback and suggestions are extremely valuable to us. We will continue working to make RaxBoard better together with our community.

Best regards,
The RaxBoard Team
